MS SQL / ORACLE DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR
Trilogy Technologies currently has a vacancy for a Junior/Mid-Level DBA located in our office in central Dublin.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
A Junior to Mid-level MS SQL Server/Oracle DBA is required to support the Trilogy customer base. The successful candidate will be part of a small team supporting DBA customer requirements, remotely and on-site. The Trilogy DBA team is responsible for supporting all customer databases and works very closely with clients and internal business groups to support the Database environments. Core activities are Database monitoring, troubleshooting, performance tuning, high-availability strategies in production environments including installation, upgrades & patching. The team is charged with administering, maintaining, developing and recommending policies & procedures for ensuring the performance, availability, security and integrity of customer’s databases and systems.
Personal Skills
- Support MSSQL 2000, 2005 & 2008 Database
- MSSQL Analysis & Reporting Services
- Support Oracle 9i, 10g and 11g Databases.
- Oracle Application Server / Weblogic
- Database backup/recovery, space management and troubleshooting
- Adhering to following the Trilogy call logging system and emails for day to day work in a multitasking fashion.
- Knowledge of backup/recovery concepts, particularly in a Windows environment
- Strong verbal/written communication skills along with a customer focused attitude and ability to deal with our clients.
- Must be a good team player and be flexible with work arrangements.
Qualifications & Experience
- Third level education in Information Technology
- Must have minimum of 1-5 years’ experience working as a Database Administrator
- Having or willing to undertake MSSQL & Oracle certification.
MSSQL Specific Knowledge:
- Experience of MSSQL 2000, 2005 & 2008
- Ability to support MSSQL Analysis & Reporting Services.
- Good knowledge of MSSQL Replication /Log Shipping/Mirroring & Clustering.
- Experience in the use of performance monitoring tools including SQL profiler and server side traces.
Oracle Specific Knowledge:
- Decent experience of Oracle database versions 11g 10g, 9i on Windows & Unix platforms.
- Good Knowledge of RMAN, Oracle Data Pump, backup/recovery and Dataguard essential
- Experience of Oracle Installations, upgrades & patching.
- Quick learner to pick up new Oracle Database technologies including RAC with minimum guidance.
